SANTA CLARA (CBS SF) — Efforts by local public and private entities to work together to boost safety in advance of Super Bowl 50 earned recognition from the White House in a statement released Monday.
The acknowledgement came the same day that the Bay Area public-private partnership was officially announced, about four months ahead of Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara hosting Super Bowl 50.
The new partnership includes the San Francisco 49ers, Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority, City of Santa Clara, Santa Clara Police Department, Arini Geographics and Allied Telesis.
Super Bowl 50 has also been awarded the highest event security rating from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The assessment is based on having collaboration between law enforcement agencies at the federal, state and local levels.
Levi’s Stadium and Santa Clara’s public transit system are being equipped with first-of-its-kind security technology, according to a news release from Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority.
The agency’s release went on to explain that these tools can take spatial data from pre-mapped sensors to provide an “enhanced situational awareness” for law enforcement.
The efforts will hopefully become a blueprint for other cities in the deployment of limited public safety resources, according to the release.
